Those taking as trip to Asia should make sure they have travel insurance in place before heading off.
According to AA Travel Insurance, 24 per cent of respondents who are going abroad – which could include those going on Malaysia holidays – are not taking out cover.
Michael Cutbill, director of the body, noted 33 per cent of those questioned do not think it is "really necessary", while 22 per cent believe it is too expensive.
"No-one should ever contemplate travelling without insurance," he added.
Some 31 per cent of people are going on a sightseeing holiday and there is plenty individuals can experience in Malaysia.
The Agriculture Heritage Park in Putrajaya, the Army Museum, the Batu Caves and the Bako National Park are just some of the highlights the country has to offer.
Alternatively, people could head to the nation's capital Kuala Lumpur and check out the cityscape.
