Atlantis opens first resort in China

Just in time for the Chinese New Year, the Atlantis Sanya is opening its doors as China’s first integrated entertainment resort to enhance the tourism of Hainan Island.

Serge Zaalof, Chief Operating Officer Atlantis Resorts & Residences said, “The Atlantis brand is known for unique, ocean-themed destinations offering a wide variety of entertainment experiences and Atlantis Sanya is no exception. The owner, Fosun International, is an incredible partner and together we have created a resort that offers unprecedented experiences to its guests.”

With over 1,300 rooms, 154 suites, five of which are underwater, the Atlantis Sanya offers experiences meant to delight and entertain visitors. The $1.6 billion resort was created with Jeffrey Beers International and Hirsch Bedner Associates Design and covers 540,000 square meters located on Haitang Bay National Coast.

The new luxury resort was built around the myth of the Lost City of Atlantis and offers a multitude of experiences including the Aquaventure Waterpark, AHAVA spa, boutiques of world famous brands, a conference centre, multi-function ballrooms and a wealth of dining options from restaurants and cafes to lounges and bars. Included in these is the celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s awarding winning Bread Street Kitchen and Bar and the fun, underwater Ossiano Restaurant and Bar. Inside the resort is the two floor Lost Chambers Aquarium where visitors can explore the ancient Atlantis civilization and the exotic marine creatures that live there, while outside, The Ambassador Lagoon is the largest open-air aquarium in the world.

Atlantis Sanya joins the flagship Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai and the in-development resorts Ko’Olina in Hawaii and The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences in Dubai and Atlantis. It will be the first Atlantis resort to open in China.
